Black Sesame Paste Dessert

Sweet, nutty, smooth.

Serves 4-6.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup black glutinous rice
  • 1 cup black sesame
  • sugar
  • water

Directions

Soak black glutinous rice in water for at least 3 hours.

Wash and drain sesame seeds and set aside until it is dry.

Toast the sesame seeds in a pan on low heat. Stir constantly. It is ready when it is fragrant and some seeds start popping. Be careful not to burn the seeds.

Add the glutinous rice, toasted sesame seeds, and about 2-3 cups of water in a blender and blend until it becomes a smooth paste.

Transfer the mixture into a pot and cook on low-medium heat.

Bring it to a light boil, stirring constantly so it does not burn.

The mixture should thicken a little as it boils. Add water to your preferred consistency. (Add more water if you like it more runny).

Add sugar to taste. Any type of sugar is fine.

Serve hot, in a bowl with a spoon and eat it like a soup.
